When travelling first time at some new places, it’s always to read city guides which give you enough information to avoid strange surprises. If you know most of the things about the place where you are planning to go, you can save a lot of time and also travelling become easy. Sites like hotelsbycity.net provide excellent city guides which you can trust upon. For example if you are travelling to some European country then you can read Europe Hotel Guide here and get useful information about hotels. I wanted to get some information about Los Angeles city and I found some great guides here.

Reading at a glance I found the guide very informative and I came to know about events like Lotus Festival in Los Angeles and much more. Knowing about major events much before helps you in planning your travel accordingly. If you want to visit that event then you can book tickets and if you know that a particular even will cause traffic jam then you can avoid that road. In the guide you are also provided with detailed maps and having a map with you is really helpful. In big cities like Los Angeles, there are many things to see and you cannot see everything in a short time. Guide let you know about the major attractions which you must see.

Seagate Free Agent incompatible to Linux

free agent

Seagate’s latest batch of drives, the ironically titled Free Agent series are not compatible with the Open Source operating system Linux. The problem is to do with the power-saving systems of drives and the fact that it is shipped already formatted to NTFS. The NTFS is only a small problem to Linux users who have a kernel with NTFS writing enabled or can work mkfs. But the “power saving” timer is a real problem. There are a few work-arounds but Seagate Tech Support says they do not know what they are (how about consulting Maxtor guys LOL). All in all it’s confirmed that their latest drives do not support Linux.

Save money on AA batteries

December 7th, 2007 by Mohd. Hashim Khan

You may have spent a lot on purchasing Alkaline batteries of AA size (often called pencil size) which are used mostly in homes. Your TV remote, camera, torch, wall clock, table clock, toys everywhere they are used. Now you can save a lot of money on this by purchasing a 6v lantern battery instead of AA batteries. Open this 6v lantern battery and you will find 32 AA batteries inside! Play the above video to see how it’s done. They will have no labels or any protective cover so I advice to put a layer of duck tape on each of them for safety and then you can use it anywhere. Now this is what we call dirt cheap!!
