Effective Blog design

October 8th, 2008 by admin

blog

You are writing something worth reading everyday and also spend a lot of time gathering traffic for your blog but you are not getting much appreciation for you work! This means that not all the visitors are reading those texts on your blogs which you spend hours to write. Simply bringing visitors but getting no real response is just like winning that race but not getting the prize and acknowledgement. If you are facing this problem then do one thing, open your blog right now and look at some old post which you might have forgot and then for time being forget that you are the owner of the blog. Now try to read your blog as a visitor just like you read other blogs. Notice how user friendly your blog is, note down everything like font site, are they comfortable enough to read or not, any kind of flashy advertisement that may be distracting (or annoying), background color too bight or too dull causing eye strain (headache?) etc.

After you have done your research and complied a report, start fixing those issues and take a look again. Repeat until you are satisfied. You can also look at top blogs and take some hint from there. Ask some of your online friends (tell them to be honest) to check for you if they are experiencing the difference. Enjoy the better blogging (and rewarding) experience!

Comodo Security Products

In this digital age, internet makes our life a lot easier than before. It has given us many things for free like email service, information and much more stuff. With every good thing, there are some bad things associated. In case of internet, security is a problem. If you computer is not connected to internet, its safe like a locker but as soon as you connect to internet, its open to world. Anyone with a little knowledge of networking and hacking can get into your system from any part of the world and steal your data. Trusted Internet connection is only available with those sites who use digital certificate and secure socket layer on servers but not every site has this feature. Sites with https link are secured and you know not every site you browse have that “s” after http. So people are looking into your system is a problem, ok but there is one more and that is as soon as you connect to internet, several applications try to access internet by connecting to some server. Now trusted applications are fine but you never know when an unknown and harmful piece of program (Trojan) connects to net and cause disaster in your computer. Simple and effective protection to this entire problem is to use a good antivirus and firewall. Some people don’t give importance to firewall but it’s a must have thing for every computer connected to internet. I personally use Comodo firewall which is very effective in keeping your computer safe from hack attempts and any kind of intrusion. The firewall learns with time and asks you every time it finds an unknown application trying to access internet, if you find it fishy, you can simply block it. All hack attempts are effectively blocked by Comodo firewall giving you peace of mind. For personal use, this firewall is free and I recommend every home user to try it.

Happy Birthday Linux

linux

Linux turns 17 today and in these 17 years it has evolved so much that it can be seen almost everywhere, from school books to office computers and hey even my smart phone runs on Linux! Today 6th October was the day when world saw its first Linux, it came to existence from a post made on usernet named Linux. No one would have thought that Linux will come to this stage giving trouble to software giant Microsoft. From the consumer point of view, Windows is still the preferred OS and home pc are always found to have windows installed but for commercial use where security is more important than ease of use, Linux is the way to go. This gave rise to Linux flavors like Red Hat which are premium and comes with support just like any other paid software.

Online Sports Videos

There are some very popular video sharing sites and we all know its name. There is no need to tell that but if you are interested in sports related videos and you search for keyword say hockey or some other sport then you will get all the videos which may have hockey in keyword. This is a big problem. I came to know about a site called SportsVids which is a video sharing site. It looks very nicely designed, easy to signup and you can start uploading your videos within seconds. Easy to join here means they don’t ask you to fill up a form which takes your whole screen and ask you for several funny verification methods. Your account gets approved instantly. I found sports vids site easy to navigate and uploading sports videos was a breeze. Not only uploading but watching online sports videos is smooth and does not take much time to buffer. There are number of sports clips available on this site and since every minute someone is uploading a cool video, you will have fresh videos to see every time you visit the site. They are also running a contest in which you have to invite people to this cool site and the more people you invite, more points you get and at last the member with most points will get prize. Prizes are new xBox 3360, tickets to Michigan vs. Penn State and $100 Gift Certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods. Here’s my link if you would like to signup: http://sportsvids.com/index.php?contest=TWpZMg==

Buying a Used Car Part 2

October 3rd, 2008 by admin

Continued from part 1

After checking the papers, you are not almost ready to buy the car. But wait, hold your excitement and for a moment think that it’s your own car and see what things you are going to change in it. Maybe an indicator glass with a fine crack which first owner did not cared to replace but you will do it. Make a total of these small costs and try to negotiate with the price. Once you have come to a point where no further negotiation can be done, note down everything on a paper like car make, model, km run, condition of the car and just anything you noticed maybe good or bad with price (+ minor repair cost if any) and tell the owner that you will contact him in few days after checking few more cars. Yes, you are going to check more cars and you should always tell the truth. In your city you will find more cars of same model for re-sale but don’t bother hunting them. Ask a broker to find a car of your preferred model and when he shows you the car, compare with that you have noted on paper. If you happen to find a better deal, go for it other wise stick with your first finding.

When you have bought the car, you need to do few things before you start driving it regularly. There are few things that you should consider changing in a used car. These are: seat covers, floor mat, and steering wheel cover (if any). These things are like clothes of the inside of your car and if you change them, car feels like new from inside. If these items are in quite good condition (say almost new) then its fine just getting them cleaned. Spend some time looking at your car closely, fall in love with it, take snaps and post it in your online community if you happen to be a member of any kind of online community website. This will give you inner satisfaction and you will not think that you wasted money.
