Energizer exposed! O really?

November 8th, 2007 by Mohd. Hashim Khan

energizer

Energizer “D” battery was exposed today at newstarget.com and as you can see in the picture above, the “D” size battery had a smaller battery inside. While some people think it’s an AA size battery packed inside “D” sized shell to make more money, but just by looking I can say it’s definitely bigger than AA battery. Energizer was tagged for ripping off its customers but what I feel is fitting a smaller battery with all those plastics casing inside “D” size battery shell (quite well arranged) will not be cheaper to manufacture so there is no intention of energizer to make more profit by doing this. There must be some technical reasons and battery was giving the same output 1.2v and had 2.5Ah capacity as mentioned on the battery case, so customer is getting nothing less than what he can expect from the battery.

eee pc

When people who were eagerly waiting for ASUS Eee PC are rushing to buy it, geeky guys at Tweak Town got their tools in hands and stripped apart this machine to see what goes inside it. People who love to tinker with electronic things always want to look inside these gadgets and get satisfied only when they see everything. To feed the desire of such people, they took close-up shots of each major component inside the laptop. ASUS Eee PC uses low profile Intel Celeron processor running at 900 MHz and for the graphics; it employs Intel GMA 900 Chip. 512MB of RAM is installed and as everyone knows, there is no HDD. For storage, 4 GB SSD is used (1GB x 4) manufactured by hynix.

LCD and Plasma more reliable

lcd tv

Buying a new TV this festival season? It is the best time as companies give lots of discounts and offers. A handy tip which comes from Consumer Reports’ Annual Product Reliability Survey is that you should now only consider buying LCD or Plasma TV! Why? They are now available in affordable price and they are more reliable than any other type of TV. Especially if you are buying a big TV, consider buying a Plasma or LCD as other technologies like CRT, DLP, projection become very much unreliable when used in making big TV sets. This is very much true as you must have seen big TV requiring more frequent service while those smaller ones just keep on working for years.

Handmade vacuum tube amplifier

audio amplifier

CHAMSORI Audio presented its vacuum tube amplifier ‘300B PP’ during IT Channel USA conference 2007 in New Jersey, USA. This 100% handmade vacuum tube amplifier offers natural, rich and warm sound than conventional digital amplifiers. Vacuum tube based amplifier have a very less distortion and music enthusiasts (and geeks) still prefer vacuum over mosfet and IC based amplifiers. Few years back me and my friends made transistor based 100W amplifier because vacuum tubes were not available here. Handmade amplifiers means reliability and we can make it according to our specific requirements. Anyways technical details of 300B PP are as follows:

Rated Output: Stereo 75W + 75W
Power Input: 1.2V (unbalance), 2.5V (balance)
Frequency: 38/20000Hz + 0, -0.25db (20Hz – 20 KHz)
S N B: 100dB (A-weighted)
T H D: Less than 0.5% (250mW)
Vacuum tubes: 300B x 4.65N7 x 4.12Ax7 x 6.5U4G x2
Power: 220V/60Hz, 4A
Power Consumption: 250W
Size: 18.5” x 8.3” x 13.5”
Weight: 53.1 lbs
