Everyone has been unfortunate enough to have a laptop lose its battery life and crash on us. Losing the availability of a laptop always seems to happen when we are about to send an important email, get to a good part of a movie, or when taking an exam for an online college course. By keeping your laptop plugged in all of the time, you are spending more money on electricity and increasing your carbon footprint. However, there are several ways to reduce the amount of energy you use while staying productive:

Change the Power Saver Mode

Most people don’t realize they can change their computer’s settings depending on the situation they’re in. Microsoft Windows users can click on the battery icon in the bottom right portion of their screen. There are several different ways to use the power saver features: you can change how quickly your laptop goes into hibernation, you can decrease the brightness of the screen, and you can also change what the power button does when you press it.

Harness the Power of the Sun

By using sunlight as a natural power resource, you can charge your battery throughout the day and not have to worry about losing your work. Most batteries run for $45 so you can purchase a solar power charger and store several at the same time. By using these batteries for work, you won’t have the need to plug in to a power source unless it is a rainy day.

Proper Battery Maintenance

By taking proper care of your battery, you are not only increasing the amount of power you get with each charge, you can also cut back on the amount of batteries you need to purchase over the lifespan of your computer. By using an air duster to clean out your battery and wiping it with a dry towel, you can optimize performance and ensure longevity. For Windows users, the Microsoft website gives official instructions on how to care for your battery.

Close Unused Applications

Tabbed browsing can be a great way to discover the best things on the Internet in a short period of time. While you’re running two browsers at the same time with ten tabs each, you’re probably going to want some music playing in iTunes. You also might still have Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office open from your day at work. While it is great that these applications can run on your laptop at the same time, they also use a lot of memory and battery life.

Unplug Accessories

When you plug in devices like removable USB drives and iPods, you’re battery is essentially using its power stores to run them. By removing a USB drive after you have saved or gathered the files necessary and taking out your iPod when it is fully charged or synced, you can save battery life. If kept in the drive, external software like CD’s use battery life even when you are not using them.

By taking some considerations you can reduce your carbon footprint, become more productive, and use your laptop to its best capabilities.

When using digital equipments which are sensitive to surge it’s strongly recommended to use an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). These UPS are of many grades. You must have bought UPS for your desktop PC and know how many brands are there each claiming to be the best. When it comes to medical instruments, we need something more advanced and reliable UPS that would not breakdown in normal conditions. Patient’s life depend on these machines when they are operated using them and one would never want them to stop working in critical time just because of an electrical surge. Therefore it becomes a standard to use only medical grade ups in medical equipments and not just any other UPS available in the market.

Medical equipments like heart lung machine, CT scanners, diathermy not only do life saving job but are also very costly, it would cost a lot if these machines breakdown frequently. Repairing of these equipments is also very costly and even not possible in some parts of the world due to unavailability of parts and engineers who can repair it. For longer life of these machines proper maintenance is required. Operating condition is equally important and apart from well trained staff, a clean power supply without any interruption will increase the life of equipment and lower the cost of maintenance. Powervar UPS are available from 78 VA to 300 kVA which is quite a good range. Their UPS come with full five year warranty which is itself a proof of reliability and has many patented technology built in to provide the cleanest power output possible.

Using low quality UPS can also be hazardous, there are many threats like loss of life due to total shut down of a critical life support system running thru poor quality UPS, wrong diagnosis because of false reading from a malfunctioning machine or other health issues arising from fumes of low standard battery.

After a few visits to BSNL office, we were able to lay our hands on their newly launched WiMax internet CPE. There are 3 types of CPE offered by BSNL, one is the USB dongle which is priced at Rs.2800, second one is somewhat similar to ADSL Wifi modem like and priced at Rs.4000 and the last one which we tested is the outdoor CPE priced at Rs.5000. This outdoor CPE will obviously have the best reception and when we tested, we found that it’s so powerful that it even worked when kept indoor! As advised by BSNL we installed it (we rejected the technical staff of BSNL request to install it for us) at 10 feet height on roof and aligned to the BSNL telephone exchange where it got the best signals. We have cat5 internal wiring in our building so we used that instead of LAN cable provided to avoid wire clutter. Also the LAN cable if only of 5mtrs which is of insufficient length.

Setting this device is pretty simple, there is a clamp provided which is used to attach the outdoor unit (ODU) to the pole and a long LAN patch cable which is used to connect the ODU to the indoor unit (IDU). A smaller LAN patch cable connects the IDU to PC. The IDU looks almost like a laptop charger but it’s much lighter as if it has nothing inside it. As soon as we power on the IDU, after few seconds we are connected to internet (no dialing nothing) and speed was surprisingly dot accurate 512 kbps which is offered in unlimited plan. Sometimes it takes its own sweet time to connect to base station and it can be really frustrating to user. Speed increases to 3.1 mbps at night but drops again to 512 in morning. This is not mentioned at BSNL website so might not be official. Talking of plans, there are four plans for home users and three for business. Plans start from Rs.220 per month which offers tiny 400mb download limit. Rs. 350 home plan gives you 1 GB download limit and Rs.750 plan will give you 4GB limit at speed upto 2mbps. However if you are okay with lesser speed of 512kbps, then BSNL gives you pure unlimited plan at Rs.750. Your monthly bill will be Plan cost + CPE rent + Tax. CPE rent will be Rs.40 for USB dongle and Rs.50 for outdoor CPE. At the time of purchase you have to pay 50% of the price of CPE (you can pay full price or buy your own CPE from market to avoid rent) and one month plan charge in advance. For example if someone opts for home unlimited plan and outdoor CPE then total amount is Rs.2500 + 750 = Rs.3250

For small business owners, the ability to empower your employees by allowing them to remotely handle work-related tasks is a worthwhile investment that’s sure to boost productivity and simplify individual data management. As a result, most office gigs these days include the company-provided laptop or tablet sidearm for employees to have the chance to take care of business anywhere.

But difficulties arise in selecting the right laptop or tablet model for the workforce. There are countless makes and models each with their own pros and cons. Then there’s the cost, which to someone unfamiliar with laptop pricing can be under-appreciated in relation to the components and capabilities of the device. You don’t want to spend too much, but then you don’t want to provide your workers with laptops they find unsatisfactory in getting their tasks completed.

Luckily, there’s a few things one can consider when browsing laptops for the workforce that can help avoid the purchase of unworthy devices and also keep the overall cost to a minimum.

Specialized or General?

The first thing to keep in mind is what your workers are doing on their computers. The level of sophistication regarding the software they use on a daily basis is important. Employees who function state-of-the-art graphics rendering of course need a machine with some serious kick. Those who are tasked with basic document creation and presentation put-together don’t need anything above standard.

But deciding this one point ultimately solves very little. There are still countless types to choose from in either category. Where does one begin?

Podunk or Pricey?

The first instinct is to just go ahead and get the most economical laptops possible with the minimal specs. For many cash-strapped small businesses, this is probably the best decision. But if it’s not the mere remote work itself that’s the goal, but improved work performed remotely, then you must take the time to choose a model that people enjoy using.

One good place to start is by going online and searching for the best laptops 2011 has to offer so far. Results that come from actual reviewers are going to incorporate all the factors you as a businessperson are already considering: price, performance, and quality. They’ll also divulge the dirty details about a particular model’s weaknesses that sales websites obviously omit. But above all, you’ll get to look at what the on-the-ground experiences tend to be for these models according to people who have used them.

Enjoyment or Economy?

Since you’ll know which laptop has the most comfortable typing experience, quickest speed, and most web-optimization, you’ll be able to weigh which factors you want against the cost you’re willing to pay. Generally speaking, laptops that get better user-ratings tend to be a little more costly, but they earn such high praise because they’re well designed, and are likely to be well-received by your workers.

If you want to issue laptops to your workers that are actually used to get work done, then you need to make sure they’ll enjoy using them. In accordance with your budget, this can be achieved greatly or hardly. The important thing is that you no longer only have one side of the issue to base your decision on. Armed with user-based information regarding laptops you’re sure to a model in your price range that your employees will be eager to use.

However when we tried using it here, it just didn’t worked with the service provider here. I gave my phone to a local store who assured me to unlock it using some cable and connecting it to computer, and the end result was that the phone software got corrupted due to virus in their computer. Technology has improved and now phones can be unlocked just by entering an unlocking code on the phone, which means no cable and no chance of corrupt phone software. These samsung unlocking codes are available for almost every Samsung mobile phone model. Now obviously these codes are unique for each and every phone even in case of same model number. That means if you and your friend has same model of Samsung Galaxy, both phones will need different unlock code. You can get this unlock code from unlocksamsung.com website and all you need to do is pay a small fee and provide them with your phone’s IMEI number. You get your unlock code within few minutes and in rare case you don’t receive your code, you get refund of your money immediately. Getting IMEI number is easy, just switch off the phone, remove the battery and there you get the IMEI number printed. Alternatively you can also get this IMEI number by pressing *#06# on your handset. Since these unlock codes are directly from Samsung, you need not worry about any bad effect on the phone. Your phone will be unlocked permanently without any issues and you can use SIM card or any service provider you want. This is the reason why Samsung IMEI Unlocking technique is successful and now no one goes for software hacks or anything else that sometimes results in a bricked phone. So now feel free to buy Samsung phone from any part of the world and you can always unlock it from unlocksamsung.com and use the phone in your country with any carrier.

We have seen and reviewed HTC’s Android 3G phone and now they have also launched some cool 4G series of cell phones with even more features. The first model we found worth mentioning here is the HTC Inspire 4G which is equipped with Android 2.2 (Froyo) ( upgradable to v2.3) OS and a mighty processor 1GHz Scorpion processor to run all your applications on the phone super fast. It is also equipped with Adreno 205 Graphic Processor Unit for stunning graphics. However all these good features are not worth unless you have a fully unlocked phone so that you can use your chose or network provider. If you are struck with a locked HTC Inspire 4G phone and paying heavy phone bills or worse not fully enjoying your phone due to insane data charges by your provider, why not unlock it and switch to a better service? You will be surprised to know that how easy is it to unlock this phone and htc inspire unlock codes are available online and all you have to do is enter it in your phone and there you get a fully unlocked phone which is ready to be used with any service provider. To get your unlock code, all you have to do is enter your phone’s IMEI number. If you are unsure about your phone’s IMEI number than just switch off your phone, take out the battery and look at the battery compartment of your phone. You should see IMEI number printed on a white sticker with barcode on it too.

Another HTC phone I would like to tell about is HTC Sensation 4G which is newly launched phone and has slightly better specification than the HTC Inspire. To begin with it has got Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) and 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with Adreno 220 Graphic Processor Unit. Even when it is a new launch, htc sensation unlocking code is available on htcsimunlock.com which means you can enjoy this new model with your chose of cellphone service.

SONY Corp. found a solution in a type of glass called Corning Gorilla Glass which is designed into several models of Sony’s 46-inch and larger BRAVIA HDTVs. The corning Gorilla Glass is strengthened at the molecular level in order to provide superior damage resistance and yet maintaining good contrast level as its strong even when it’s molded very thin. 0.7 mm is the thickness of this glass used in Bravia models and it has been found effective in protecting from everyday wear like scratches while transporting, installing or cleaning.

When mobile phones were launched and they were considered a luxury to own, not only the prices of handsets were high but call rates were not easy on the pocket too. Only post paid connections were available in those days but after few years as soon as pre paid or pay as you go mobile phones were launched, suddenly mobile phones became much more affordable to own and use. Now when more people were buying phones, mobile companies started making phones in higher quantity and as a result prices of handsets came down. From what earlier was considered as luxury, has now become a necessity and you can see mobile phone in everyone’s hand. Enough of history, what I wanted to really tell was about some amazing pay as you go mobile phone offers on Phones 4u website. They are offering latest handsets from popular manufactures and option to choose from various mobile networks like O2, Vodafone, Orange to name few. If you are a particular brand follower like I am a Motorola fan and always look for Motorola phones when I need a new phone, you can browse the phone by brands so that you only see phones from your desired brand. This saves a lot of time and confusion when deciding which handset to buy. Phones 4u always leave me amazed by the variety of phones they have, I even spotted a JCB make phone on their website and it looked rock solid. I never knew JCB can make phones too as till now I have only seen cranes, earth movers and other heavy machines of JCB. Just like their heavy machines, their phone is also rough and tough military grade phone, totally water and dust proof!

I can tell this when I saw the first Android phone that just came in the shop and it was sold off within few minutes without even checking all its features. Now after updates in Android OS, it has become very stable and use friendly. More and more applications are developed and released for this OS which increase the usefulness of a phone running Android OS.
Since almost every manufacture has its line of Android phones, it was hard to select a phone which doesn’t cost a lot of money and still gives maximum features and of course runs on latest Android OS. HTC Desire is one such phone that I came to know about from my favorite mobile phones website Dial A Phone. Talking about the HTC Desire, it’s a phone just right for those who a feature packed phone; its list of features is endless. There are many things to talk about, but let’s look at the phone features at a glance:
CPU: 1GHZ
RAM 576MB
Format supported: .aac, .amr, .ogg, .m4a, .mid, mp3, .wav, 3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .wmv
Battery Capacity: 1400 mAh
Network: HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Camera: 5MP
Data: 3G, GPRS, EDGE, WiFi
Weight: 135Gms

The 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the HTC Desire is very responsive and phone doesn’t show any lag in operating even when you have multiple applications running. Looks are subjective but I find it an elegant phone to have in your pocket. Its design is such that it will suit both students and corporate users.
