logitech air mouse

Logitech introduced ‘MX Air Rechargeable Cordless Air Mouse’, its versatile laser mouse that works on the desk and in the air. Similar to the way you use a remote to control a television, when holding the MX Air mouse, you can now lean back and relax while navigating the computer and enjoying media content.

It serves as a hub for digital media, demanding a new way for users to control, consume and enjoy music, photos and videos on the pc. To enable effortless in-air navigation, the new mouse combines three technologies of Freespace motion-control, gesture command and wireless, so people can point, select and play media files with just a flick of the wrist.

The mouse is available in August in USA market with the price tag of 149.99 USD.

MSI’s Luxium external graphics solution for laptops

July 13th, 2007 by

MSI will be soon launching a new graphic card and this time it’s an external one for laptop users. Displayed at Computex and not officially released yet, many people having laptop with lower graphic power must be delighted. Now one can get fantastic graphics from their laptop as this device houses an x16 PCI Express graphics card, which you can then connect to your notebook via your laptop’s ExpressCard slot. Here this slot is not that PCMCIA slot, but it’s an advanced version of it which can be found in newer laptops.
As in case of most powerful external devices, this one too needs an external power source to fuel the GPU inside. It will also let you connect other devices like speakers, flash drives etc., as it also offers USB and audio connectors like "USB to LAN" connector, S/PDIF in / out, optical audio input, and 7.1-channel Dolby Digital support etc.

However I feel due its external connectivity, full power of GPU will remain untapped.

ASUS Eee PC – $199 Laptop

July 3rd, 2007 by

ASUS Eee PC

A month back ASUS launched a new series of laptop named ASUS Eee PC with much lower price tag of just $199. Being cheap, this laptop doesn’t come with latest Windows Vista OS and all the bells and whistles but it does have all the basic required features. Its technical details are as follows:

- Processor: 900MHz Intel Dothan based Pentium M
- RAM: 512MB DDR2
- Chipset: Intel’s 910 mobile
- 802.11g wireless capability
- HDD: 4GB Flash (8 / 16 GB also available)
- Display Size: 7 inch.
- Connectivity: 10/100 Ethernet
- Battery type: 4 cell
- Weight: 0.89Kg

If you feel 900 MHz is quite low but then think of the small size of the laptop, small size means small battery to feed the power hungry higher clocked processor and less space for heat dissipation. The same reason maybe why a regular laptop hard disk is replaced with an 8GB Flash Disk which should cost the same as a regular 40GB laptop hard disk. There is no optical drive as well and no space for future upgrade as well but an external drive can be easily installed using USB port. There are 4 USB ports in this laptop. With less moving parts inside, this laptop runs quietly and without getting much hot. It comes pre-installed with Linux. This laptop will be able to run Windows Xp well, so those who are interested in this laptop must buy the cheaper $199 model and save $100 for buying an external laptop hard disk with casing.

Pros: Light weight and very portable. Hinge looks very sturdy

Cons: Display could have been little bigger and so the internal disk space.

Best 22inch LCD monitor

LG Flatron LCD monitor

You have spend a lot on your system for best graphics card, more RAM and goodies but what about that monitor at which you have to constantly stare when working on computer ! A typical user today has 17inch monitor which should be ok if you don’t do multitasking. With the coming of dual core processors, people can now easily do two three works at a time on PC for e.g., I often open several applications like photoshop, calculator, and many other window to do work faster but switching to one of these window sometimes becomes a problem due to space shortage. A wide 22inch monitor can do a lot good to your working environment as it will provide enough space for multiple windows and work on each easily. LG Flatron L226WTQ-BF is one of the best available in the market today. Well how can I say that? As you already know the problem with LCD technology was the slow pixel response as compared to CRT which led to blurry images in fast moving games and movie scenes. LG Flatron 22” monitor has a Pixel response time of just 2ms as compared to 5 or even more of others. Hence images are crisp and clear. Colors are also very well reproduced in this monitor. With the price tag of just $350, this is the best buy in 22” LCD monitors range.

Technical Specifications:
• 1680 x 1050 Resolution
• 3,000:1 Contrast Ratio
• Certified for Windows Vista™
• 2ms Ultra-Fast Response Time
• FLATRON f-Engine™
• 300 cd/m2 High Brightness
• DVI Input with HDCP

Price:
$350 Street.
