September 25th, 2007 by

Soon those unlocked Apple iPhones will be useless as Apple told in its recent press release that future software update for iPhone will make those unlocked phones permanently inoperable. Few days back we heard of some unlocking software available on internet which unlock the phone so that it becomes SIM free and can be used with any network. Apple clarified that users who make unauthorized modifications to the software on their iPhone violate their iPhone software license agreement and void their warranty. The permanent inability to use an iPhone due to installing unlocking software was not covered under the iPhone’s warranty.

Fahlman of Carnegie Mellon University was the first to use this smiley’s and proposed [:-)] and [:-(] as jokes and not jokes markers respectively. Since then people started experimenting with many other combinations and made faces like:-P , :-D (My favorite smiley), :-O and so on. Not to tell some dirty one’s too.

OLPC to cost more

olpc

OLPC (One Laptop per Child) will cost more than suggested $100 price since the program started. The hike in price is due to increase in raw materials costs and currency fluctuation. According to CNN reports, it’s expected to cost $188 per piece. Any further increase in price (even if it’s small) will definitely cause problem to this program as then people will prefer to buy a used laptop (with much better configuration) than OLPC.
