Oktutorials

If you do lots of work on your PC, you must have spend lots of time working on different software’s to do different types of stuff. We have software for every work we do on computer. It’s not possible for you to do a full course on that software in which you want to work for sometime. So what normally people do is open the software and start looking at what it can do and then after some tinkering here and there you anyhow start working on it. But problems arise soon as you are not aware of all the feature of the software so what you need is a good tutorial which you can read and know all the features and functionality. I was working on 3DMax few days back in my computer lab and was not able to fully use the power of this software and I strongly needed help now. So I searched for some Free 3DMax tutorials and I found oktutorials.com which offered great 3DMax tutorials and not only this, it has many free tutorials for different software’s like Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc. It’s always good to read tutorial before using any software because if you don’t know all the little tricks then you will not be able to utilize the full power of software. A tutorial is different from book; article will only have to the point information and real life examples. This is helpful as it takes very less time to learn software by reading these tutorials. Most of the times these tutorials also carry video presentation which let you see how a task is performed making it very simple to understand. Also I keep some good tutorials of all the software’s I regularly use as when working I can need it for reference anytime. Oktutorials.com website has many free tutorials and it will be a good idea to subscribe to their RSS feeds so that you can know whenever they add more free tutorials of your interest.

Windows Genuine Advantage works?

November 26th, 2007 by Mohd. Hashim Khan

wga

Reports say that Windows sales were up 20 percent while worldwide PC sales were up only 14 to 16 percent means people who already had computers are also buying windows (who were earlier using pirated ones). Big guys believe that it’s due to WGA and people are forced to buy original stuff. But I have a second thought, after the final release of Vista and when all the branded computer manufacturers started giving pre-installed Vista, many people switched back to XP. This can also add up to the extra 4 – 6% purchase increase which is shown in report.

Using Ubuntu can be fatal for Laptops

ubuntu

A bug has been found in Ubuntu operating system which shortens the life span of your laptops hard disk drive. Desktop users using Ubuntu need not worry about this bug. The reason behind it is that Ubuntu uses the default hard disk setting and because of that switching to battery power causes the drive to complete an entire load cycle in a minute. Since most of the laptop hard disks are rated at 600,000 cycles per lifetime, you may need to replace new hard disk almost every year! This is a lot of price to pay for using a free operating system. However a fix to this issue has been posted at launchpad forum

Pay to get old looks

office 2007

When Microsoft released Office 2007, it was a major upgrade over its previous versions and 2007 ver. was totally different. The new GUI is glossy with style to match the new OS Windows Vista well and the interface was new too. This new interface of office 2007 is found to be very useful by majority of users but some people (I am in) found it so confusing that they are ready to pay for downgrading the GUI to older 2003 version of MS Office. A software called Addintools does the same job for you but it comes at price tag of $30 to change the menus for Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint. If you only use Word; you can choose the add-on for $16. But then why use Office 2007 if you don’t like it to this extent that you are ready to shell out money to change it? I still use Office 2003 and I am writing this article on Word 2003 :)
