We’ve seen a lot of advancements in web-based technology, and, for the most part, society has had a hard time keeping up with it, to say the least. Applications and software is evolving quicker than we can find the best applications for them. To be fair, these technologies are making life much easier and accessible, but more and more services are now being providing online.

You can do practically anything you can think of, and, chances are, there’s probably an app for it. But with this mass influx of tech-services, many are wondering how far it will or can go. There may come a day when Medical Coding, nursing, and doctors all work in their professions remotely. One doctor is already doing this and it’s been more successful than you’d think.

Last month, NPR’s show, Morning Edition, reported on one doctor that had started seeing and diagnosing his patients via web chat. Video Chat Doctor Visits aren’t a new idea. but in practice, not many have tried it.

Dr. Ray Dorsey, a specialist that works out of John Hopkins Medical Center located in Baltimore, works with Parkinson’s patients via web chat. He’s done so for a while now and allows him to remotely examine patients hundreds of miles away. He can visually look at a patient, ask them to perform a series of movements, ask them about their mood and health, and make other visual determinations from a remote location. Of course, the practice does have it’s drawbacks, but many who use these services prefer this specialized option over no option at all.

It sounds like a great idea for cases like this, but there’s one problem, insurance companies won’t pay for the service. This is despite the fact that may people with specialized conditions, like Parkinson’s, have a hard time finding specialists anywhere near them. It’s tough to find doctors that are highly-qualified in specific areas of study and many feel that this form of medicine could one day become mainstay. Some have found a great resource through these telecommunication visits, but it’s still not widely accepted as a valid form of medicine.

Many feel that this mood is changing as technology proves to be the vehicle that fuels our ability. There may come a day when, as a way to cut costs or stay current, health care professionals begin to have online practices where patients can receive quality care via the web.

We’re still a long way off from this point, but if the rest of the social and business world is any kind of gauge, it’s only a matter of time. Most people throughout the globe are becoming more comfortable with using technology, and it’s become one of the largest parts of daily life. We spend hours interacting with it every day. Most people are, however, still unfamiliar or very leery of using such services.

Right now, technology really isn’t the issue at hand and has far more to do with acceptance. The implements and tools of the process, such as web cams and computers, now are far more affordable than ever before. The quality has also improved drastically in the space of years, not decades. No longer do we have to deal with heavy pixelation images and poor internet access. Our capability can now match our goals, but this form of medicine, called telemedicine, isn’t taking off.

Many feel it’s just a matter of time before we look to these options as a way to combat rising healthcare costs and needs. We have an aging population and the medical industry is have difficulty finding the qualified professionals to meet the demands of a growing population. It may very well mean that telemedicine could become common place in the not too distant future.

After a few visits to BSNL office, we were able to lay our hands on their newly launched WiMax internet CPE. There are 3 types of CPE offered by BSNL, one is the USB dongle which is priced at Rs.2800, second one is somewhat similar to ADSL Wifi modem like and priced at Rs.4000 and the last one which we tested is the outdoor CPE priced at Rs.5000. This outdoor CPE will obviously have the best reception and when we tested, we found that it’s so powerful that it even worked when kept indoor! As advised by BSNL we installed it (we rejected the technical staff of BSNL request to install it for us) at 10 feet height on roof and aligned to the BSNL telephone exchange where it got the best signals. We have cat5 internal wiring in our building so we used that instead of LAN cable provided to avoid wire clutter. Also the LAN cable if only of 5mtrs which is of insufficient length.

Setting this device is pretty simple, there is a clamp provided which is used to attach the outdoor unit (ODU) to the pole and a long LAN patch cable which is used to connect the ODU to the indoor unit (IDU). A smaller LAN patch cable connects the IDU to PC. The IDU looks almost like a laptop charger but it’s much lighter as if it has nothing inside it. As soon as we power on the IDU, after few seconds we are connected to internet (no dialing nothing) and speed was surprisingly dot accurate 512 kbps which is offered in unlimited plan. Sometimes it takes its own sweet time to connect to base station and it can be really frustrating to user. Speed increases to 3.1 mbps at night but drops again to 512 in morning. This is not mentioned at BSNL website so might not be official. Talking of plans, there are four plans for home users and three for business. Plans start from Rs.220 per month which offers tiny 400mb download limit. Rs. 350 home plan gives you 1 GB download limit and Rs.750 plan will give you 4GB limit at speed upto 2mbps. However if you are okay with lesser speed of 512kbps, then BSNL gives you pure unlimited plan at Rs.750. Your monthly bill will be Plan cost + CPE rent + Tax. CPE rent will be Rs.40 for USB dongle and Rs.50 for outdoor CPE. At the time of purchase you have to pay 50% of the price of CPE (you can pay full price or buy your own CPE from market to avoid rent) and one month plan charge in advance. For example if someone opts for home unlimited plan and outdoor CPE then total amount is Rs.2500 + 750 = Rs.3250

IT services are required by almost every type of business, big or small whatever the size of your business may be, you will need IT related service. It s not to do something with growing trend to go online or become a dot com company but computerization has proved its benefits and now everyone knows that for faster pace of growth, IT services are a must. Networking is one such service which is needed in when setting up office. Needless to say why there are so many jobs in computer network solutions, since there is a demand of people who are good in networking knowledge.

At first companies consult at any IT company and present their problem in front of them which is then analyzed and studied. Accordingly a solution is found which will work best for the company and is feasible too. Outsourcing this work most of the time is very cost effective and gives good results. For example it consulting Dallas, this place is full of industries that are consulted with big business firms need IT related support. The it support Dallas, I can say is one of the best and certified place to get your work done. Experts who work in these IT firms are certified professionals who are well equipped to handle almost any kind of IT challenge. Services offered are quite flexible and hence worked upon strictly as per client requirements.

These services are a boon for those who cannot develop In-house IT department or wish to provide excellent service to their customer’s without spending a fortune on IT department. Another point to consider is that you will be getting the entire list of IT related work under one roof thereby reducing the conflicts among different type of technology and you will have everything setup smoothly and working perfectly every time.

VPX system is one such term. So what is actually VPX? The VPX is a generally defined technology utilizing the most up-to-date in a range of switch fabric technologies in 3U and 6U format blades. OpenVPX is an Industry Working Group comprising of 28 defense contractors. The OpenVPX Industry Working Group has given new standards which will change VME and VXS standards in future defense designs. OpenVPX is the architecture framework that defines system level VPX interoperability for multi-vendor, multi-module, integrated system environments. The OpenVPX framework defines comprehensible interoperability points essential for integration between Module to Module, Module to Backplane and Chassis. OpenVPX recommends, but does not specify development systems to assist evaluation, prototype and development of VPX systems. OpenVPX will evolve and include new fabric, connector and system technology as newer standards are defined. OpenVPX will strive for a new level of interoperability while leaving room for application specific augmentation.

Benefits for Customers:
- Off-The-Shelf Products via Known Established Ecosystem
- Product Interoperability
- More Flexibility and Greater Choice of Supplier Base
- Proven and Established Topologies
- Reduced Time to System Concept and Design Verification
- Lower cost (integration, total ownership, second sourcing, obsolescence benefits, etc.

Technology is advancing and every day we see new and better products coming in market. In world of electronics, it’s so fast that item you buy today become obsolete tomorrow. However without our notice some technology has stagnated. Be surprised to read about some of them.

1. Optical Drives: Remember how rapidly optical drives reached to 52x speed? From those days of 16x and 32x it took just few years to reach 52x and price was always going down. But now we don’t see any news of 104x optical driver in market. Although we might not be much concern about optical drive speed, it’s still the slowest reading media in our computer (earlier was floppy drive but it’s no more a standard now) and increase in its speed will make a difference. Other factors which might stop us at 52x is risk of breaking CD if we spin it faster inside drive or other damages, but technology is all about taking challenges right? Also we are yet to see more DVD writing speed which is struck at 24x. Though I write my important data DVD’s at 8x because slower you write higher is the reliability but that doesn’t mean drive should not be capable of high speed.

2. LCD displays: LCD displays have become a common item with little or no improvement I see in newer models. Earlier when it was launched, its response time was 8ms which was reduced to 5ms and then 2ms in costlier models. But now since few years we see only 5ms and 2ms, when will 1ms and 0ms response time come? I know it may be useless to work on this technology because our eyes can’t make difference in video played at 1ms and 2ms but still don’t we listen to very high quality songs when our ears can’t listen to all the fine notes?

3. Jet Engines: Since 1944 aircrafts are using these engines. These engines are very powerful but a small bird can cause this engine to fail. We all hear bird entering the jet engine causing it burst into flames and results in mass killing of passengers inside the aircraft. This technology definitely needs improvement.

In the race to implement new energy sources, farms have an advantage: lots of manure. A large chicken farm north of Beijing is taking advantage of this fact by using its chicken manure to generate power and heat. And this isn’t just a small-time farm—the 3 million chickens on the farm produce 220 tons of manure and 170 tons of wastewater each day.

The project is expected to provide 14,600 megawatt hours of electricity a year and help reduce electricity shortages in the region. The biogas is taking the place of coal-fired power, and the project is also helping to control dust levels and reduce odors.

The plant will feature an anaerobic digester to treat waste material, which will produce biogas that will then power 2 GE Jenbacher gas engines. Heat generated from the process will be used in the waste fermentation process and to warm the farm in the winter.

While any facility containing 3 million chickens probably doesn’t treat its animal residents very well, at least this one sets an example for other farms looking to become more self-sufficient—and energy self-sufficiency should always be welcome in a growing country like China, cleantechnica.com reports.

GE Energy China estimates the project will save the farm more than $1.2 million a year in electricity costs. GE’s Jenbacher gas engines can be powered a number of ways, with natural gas, coal mine gas or alternative fuels like biogas from waste and landfills.

Pioneer has developed a 16-layer read-only optical disc (you cannot burn data on it) which claims to store 400GB of data. The per-layer capacity is 25GB, the same as that of a Blu-ray Disc. If this was announced few months back then people will think its totally un-practical to have so much space and data on a single disk but today I see such disk will be of great use for providing high definition content. More people are buying high definition LCD TV’s and these people will experience a great video quality as there will be no need to compress videos and even longer videos will fit on single disk. Still this disk will not be for a mass market as not everyone is equipped well to play such high definition movie at home.

Adobe systems made an announcement that it has provided technology and information to Google and Yahoo, the two search engine giants (and rivals) to index Shockwave Flash (SWF) file formats. According to the Adobe, this will provide more relevant search rankings of the millions of flash content which was till now of no relevance to search engines. But now since the Flash content is exposed, it is not yet cleared by Adobe how their technology will show content of flash to the search engines. Any how people have got more reasons now to go for full flash websites and flash developer delight as well.

AMD has aimed this time to put all the benefits of console gaming in PC. Although PC gaming has a very committed to fan-base but it is impossible to not see the many benefits that console gaming offers: faster loads, better compatibility and more games that fully utilize the hardware to name a few. AMD just launched a new initiative called AMD GAME! that attempts to bring some of these benefits to PC games as well. AMD will be certifying hardware for two different levels of PC gaming standards, testing compatibility with a host of current and future PC titles as well as offering up AMD GAME! ready components or pre-built systems from partners. AMD GAME! will come in two flavors, AMD GAME! and AMG GAME! Ultra. Let’s see if this can bring up the lost image of AMD after launch of Phenom.

A new superconducting material fabricated by a Canadian-German team has been fabricated out of a silicon-hydrogen compound and does not require cooling. Instead of super-cooling the material, as is necessary for conventional superconductors, the new material is instead super-compressed. The researchers claim that the new material could sidestep the cooling requirement, thereby enabling superconducting wires that work at room temperature.

The new family of superconductors are based on a hydrogen compound called “silane,” which is the silicon analog of methane combining a single silicon atom with four hydrogen atoms to form a molecular hydride.

Tse’s team is currently using the Canadian Light Source synchrotron to characterize the high pressure structures of silane and other hydrides as potential superconducting materials for industrial applications as well as a storage mechanism for hydrogen fuel cells.
