Cover those un-used ports

laptop-portsLaptops have many ports on either sides and some of them have at front as well. Not all the time we are using all these ports and that leads to accumulation of dust inside them. Sometimes ports like VGA and LAN never get used and these ports get really dirty from inside. While you may not notice any problem with it but these dirty ports can cause performance issues with your laptop. Dust that is collecting inside, together with moisture in air can become slightly conducting and since internal circuitry of laptop is very delicate, it can get effected and lead to performance issues or even hardware failure. To solve this problem, we can cover the unused ports with dummy plugs of rubber or rubber caps if they are available for your laptop model / ports. If you can’t find any of these things then just sticking a cello tape is also a good measure because that will also protect dust from entering inside. Some people might say that there is always dust present inside the laptop so why protect the ports? Well the inside of your laptop, the board is laminated and all the sensitive electrical wires are insulated with either lamination or tapes so they can handle little dust.
