A new company raised the question of the feasibility of mining asteroids close to Earth for minerals. The company, started by some big-name celebrities and high profile billionaires, put forth a business plan that calls for exploring and mining asteroids. Stephen Dattels, a 25 year veteran of the mining exploration and resources financing industry, weighs in on the feasibility of this idea.

While asteroids most likely hold valuable minerals, extracting them and trying to bring them to market is prohibitively expensive. The cost to bring those minerals to a factory or to any destination on Earth is simply not feasible. 1. Business website: Target audiences are senior people who may have not a strong computer background. Website should not be too funky (unless your business is about design and artworks) and functionally simple. It should have fonts that comes pre installed in OS and not any fancy one. In case of L100, Epson is giving you a top quality CISS system which can to some extent justify the cost of printer but still we think price could have been slightly lower. However users will be saving by using non-genuine ink as there are reset codes available on various websites which will allow you to use other brands of ink*. For users buying non-genuine ink, please make sure you buy dye based ink only and not the pigment one. Pigment based ink can be thought of as a gel pen ink which gives smooth text and dye based ink as fountain pen ink which blots. When we print on normal white paper (non glossy) we can notice the text printed as fine dots and not smooth like you will get with inkjet printer with pigment ink. If you fill pigment based ink in Epson L100, its head will clog and printer will stop working, this is because the pigment based ink tend to crystallize while dye based ink is like water which is best for any CISS system. We have compared text printouts of both the inks.

Talking about printer itself, it’s a beautiful unit with everything rock solid. Packaging of printer is good and everything comes wrapped in good plastic, taped and in proper box. Printer does not come filled with ink but inside you will find one box of 6 color bottles of 70ml each. Out of these 6 bottles, 3 are black and other 3 are Cyan, magenta and yellow. Let me write a summary of installation of this printer:

1. Un-box everything.
2. Attach the tray, power chord (don’t switch it on yet) and USB cable (do not plug in PC).
3. Take the ink bottles and fill them completely in the printer ink tank. Turn the lever (marked with big red arrow symbol on tank) to print position. You can turn it to transport position when you have to move the printer for any purpose to avoid any spilling of ink. Don’t throw the bottles, keep them at safe place.
4. Install the printer software using the CD provided with printer, it will prompt you to enter the codes printed on ink bottles.
5. Installation wizard will then prompt you to connect the printer. Now connect the USB cable and power on the printer by pressing power button for 2 seconds.

Now the printer will recharge itself with ink and this takes about half an hour. During this half an hour printer will make noise as if everything inside will break apart, but don’t worry as this is considered normal with this printer. While we were waiting, the installation wizard tried to keep us busy by asking to register the product on Epson website and we did say yes. However on clicking yes button it opened a URL which led to 404 error page! What a pity. Once the printer is done with recharging ink, the green LED near power button will stop blinking. Now you can start using the printer.

We printed some text files on normal A4 size paper and the result was nothing brilliant but satisfactory. If you need bulk printing for office like printing lots of tickets from online ticketing software or other requirements which does not require very good text quality. However the color photos that were printed on glossy photo paper almost matched the studio quality! Overall a very good product from Epson and I am sure this will be a hit among various small office owners and home users as well.

Marketing also require a solid web presence where your customers can get in touch with you and new customers can know about your work. Web is the only place where you will be getting the maximum exposure for your work and also get lots of leads from it. With latest easy to use software anyone who knows about some basics of web programming can build a website but this job should be always left to experts. A poorly designed website can give very bad impression because your website will always be compared to your competitor’s website. There are three important aspects for a successful website, first is its functionality, second is its ease of use (what’s use of all advance features if your visitors need a PHD degree to use your website?) and last one is its design. You should get graphic design pricing from various graphic designers and checkout their work first before you decide to handover the work.

If you still use a desktop along with your laptop then your desktop table is the best place to setup a wireless network. Get yourself a wireless n router, connect all your devices which have LAN connectivity to the LAN ports (there are several LAN ports in a router). Don’t forget to connect your desktop too. If some of your gadgets don’t have LAN connectivity (well most of them don’t) then you will need to get another device called ‘print server’. This was designed for connecting a USB printer to network but you can connect any USB device with it to the network. This print server has LAN connection port which you have to connect to LAN port of your router using a patch chord which is usually supplied with the print server. If not then no big deal as it’s available at every computer store at very low cost. Even print server and router are available for cheap these days, you can get both at Rs.2500 or less. I was able to buy a decent quality router from ebay for just Rs.990.

With everything connected to router, now all you have to do is switch on the router and enjoy wireless connectivity with all the devices on your laptop. Needless to say, you can connect your internet cable to the WAN port of router and get internet too.

Tip#1: When you sit in your car and going to move, before starting the engine adjust all the mirrors. The centre rear view mirror is the most important and it should be kept clean and at an angle which shows you the best view of rear. If your car rear view mirror does not offer good visibility then go for aftermarket mirrors which are bigger in size and offer wider visibility.

Tip#2: If you have to brake for lowering your speed, do it slowly as someone at your back might be doing the same speed and notice your brake lights later. In case of emergency braking you have no option but to brake hard. Cars equipped with ABS and good quality tyres will help stopping in shortest possible distance. If your current car does not have ABS, make sure your next car does have it.

Tip#3: Bikers are notorious for overtaking you at wrong sides and whatever space they find. They don’t know that the person driving car in front will not always notice them coming. This is due to presence of blind spots and it varies in different model of cars. Bigger vehicles have more blind spots. As a car driver you can have blind spot mirrors fixed and always look at the centre rearview mirror whenever you brake or turn on any side. As a biker, please do not overtake from wrong side and give a few flicks of headlight when overtaking.

Tip#4: A car door is also a piece of metal which is enough to hurt someone badly. When getting out of car, always look outside first to make sure no one will be hurt if you open the door. As a person walking by your car or driving a bike I cannot guess if someone will pop out of car. Bikers can maintain a safe distance when passing by a parked car.

Tip#5: Drive slowly at busy streets and those roads which have house built on both sides because mostly children unexpectedly appear from nowhere trying to cross the road. Drive at optimum speed whenever possible, it will save fuel plus give you a peaceful drive experience.

Tip#6: I know this is very hard to follow tip but still try not to get distracted from hot girls on roads. Better still do not get distracted from anything happening around you, just concentrate on driving.

Tip#7: Once in a while do check that all lights, indicators and brake lights are working properly.
